The Love Story
“I think our love story is a cute one. So we’ve been friends for almost 17 years, we met through a mutual friend, our mutual best friend, Taylor. He met Taylor many years prior before we became friends. We ended up going to college together at NYIT and graduated undergraduate together in 2013. Jay would always come to Taylor’s house for our weekly Friday night hang outs, where we usually watched Jersey Shore and would get Ralph’s Italian ice.
For years, Taylor’s husband and father always told us (well mostly Jay, because I was stuck in a terrible long term relationship) that we should date. Three years ago, when things ended with my ex, Jay was one of the first people to text me to see how I was doing and said “I know how you feel, you really shouldn’t be home alone, do you want to come get Ralph’s with me?” It was truly the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me, I know something so small but, to me it was the biggest gesture. (Side note: Ralph’s Italian ice is our favorite place and we went there on our first date). After getting Ralph’s, we drove up to Teddy Roosevelt beach to watch the sunset, it was really nice. A couple of weeks later, I asked if he would be willing to help me build a wooden photo backdrop for my sister’s bridal shower and he happily agreed! For over a week, we spent every moment of free time together, building it (well mostly him building it, because do we really want me near power tools lol), taking multiple trips to Lowes or Home Depot for materials and getting our daily Ralph’s ice night cap. We would even text all the time even when we weren’t together. I also asked him to be the photographer (if you know Jay, he’s literally a master of all trades and is extremely talented). The days leading up to my sister’s shower, we both didn’t know it yet but, we both started to grow feelings for each other. Now it’s the day of and when I saw him, I had so many butterflies in my stomach and we couldn’t stop looking at each other. Quite frankly, his way of flirting was taking so many more pictures of me than the bride herself. The following week, we both realized that we didn’t want to stop hanging out with each other. I don’t remember who texted who first but naturally, we had a hang out at Ralph’s Italian ice and we drove to a local park and spent hours talking about everything (ie: marriage, kids, what we wanted for our future and etc) and then he finally kissed me. From there, we hung out every single night and then a week later, he asked me to be his girlfriend!”
The Proposal
“Fast forward a year later, we plan this wonderful trip to Aruba, our first big trip together and his first time on an airplane. Now that I look back, the clues were obvious but, at the time, I had no clue that this was going to be the most life changing moment in our lives. He told me that we won a sunset dinner on the beach through one of his coworker’s time shares and even went the extra mile to create an email confirmation using the hotel timeshare logo and email signature, it was so legit, that honestly, I didn’t even think twice (I know, so silly). Now the day comes, we both get dressed up and we arrive to the beach, I’m filming our walk up to this beautiful set up, still clueless and later learned, he was completely freaking out at this moment. We were at Eagle beach and it was apparently a popular place for a wedding, as there were two legit weddings happening right next to us. Suddenly, a photographer comes up to us to offer their services and he turns to me and says, “wanna do it?” And I was like “yea why not”. I’m still completely clueless and then at one point, we have our backs turned to each other and our song comes on (Wheels by Foo Fighters) and I say to Jay,” why is our song on?” And he replied “I don’t know what you’re talking about”, then the photographer tells us to turn around and then I see him down on one knee and I was so surprised, I don’t remember anything that he said or didn’t say (because, we’re convinced that he didn’t actually ask me lol) but of course, it was the easiest question I ever answered.”
The Wedding
“Now our wedding day comes. I barely slept that night and when I woke up, we had a ton of snow on the ground and I can remember getting texts from my soon to be husband saying “BABE, IT’S SNOWING!! WE’RE GOING TO HAVE A WHITE WEDDING!!. He told me how excited he was to see me and how he couldn’t wait to marry me. The snow was so absolutely magical and I truly believe that this was another sign that my mom was here with me. It was truly the best day of our lives and we had the time of our lives, which you can clearly see in the pictures!”

Saying “YES”!
“Now the story of the day I found my dream dress. I came to NFBS with my sister and matron of honor and we were greeted with so many happy people and our own private corner that said on the screen “The Future Mrs. Henne”. The person who helped us was this cute woman! This made everything so real! I tried on probably 15 dresses that day and then my sister asks if we could try on a more clean look and I remember our girl saying, “I saw something in the sample sale selection and I don’t even know if you’re going to like it but, I want to pull it out”. I was super excited and when she brought the dress out, I can recall saying to my sister that I couldn’t wait to try that sample on. I tried both dresses on but I fell in love with the sample dress, so I went to go try it on for the second time and as I put the dress on in the dressing room and a song started to play on the speakers.. it was the song that my mother had danced with my brother at his wedding in 2017. Our mother had passed away in 2022 and it was very hard not having her here with me and at that moment, I started to get choked up and I could hear my sister too. I knew at this moment, this was my dress and this was a sign from my mom that she was here with me and I got to say yes to my dream dress!”
